Research and Reports

See the SA Tourism Commission's international infographic - which shows 8,000 international visitors spent 126,000 nights in the Adelaide Hills in the 12 months to June 2018.

See the SA Tourism Commission's national infographic - which shows 178,000 visitors spent 527,000 nights in the Adelaide Hills in the 12 months to June 2018.

The above figures relate to overnight visitors but the Adelaide Hills has a high proportion of day trip visitors given its proximity to Adelaide. The Visits to Regions report which breaks down visitors and expenditure in each region shows the Adelaide Hills receives about 1.21 million domestic day trip visitors annually (based on 2-year average ending June 2018). It's important to note that the day trip figure does not include day trips that are part of an overnight stay in a different region (e.g. an international visitor staying in Adelaide and visiting Adelaide Hills for the day) so the actual number of day trip visits would be considerably higher.
